http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-24422742Thousands of Tottenham Hotspur fans have ignored a police warning not to use the word "Yid" in chants at a match against West Ham United.
Spurs supporters chanted "We'll sing what we want" and "Yid Army" at White Hart Lane, in north London.
Before the match, the Met Police warned fans using the term could be arrested. One fan was arrested at half-time.
Spurs have a strong Jewish following and have been the target of abuse from opposition fans.
However, some Spurs supporters use the term themselves in an act of defiance.
Before the game, which West Ham won 3-0, match commander Ch Supt Mick Johnson said "racism and offensive language have no place in football".
This particular game is always a big grudge match and West Ham fans often make hissing sounds - to emulate the gas entering the gas chambers but every season for the past three years the police have tried to stop jews (and non-jews) calling themselves Yids - a nickname for the Joos.
It goes back to before the War when West Ham, situated just outside East London had quite a few of Mosley's Facists amongst their number.
Some Joos have spoken in favour of the ban (David Baddiel) but large numbers think they reclaimed it over a hundred years ago, when german emigrants came to London.
FYI West Ham fans used to sing I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles but then Michael Jackson got a monkey and it made them sound like they were sucking monkey cock.
