Question for those that answered "yes". Would you swap the baby for yourself to gain the same outcome?
It's a piece of piss to be cowiz, but it's not cowiz to be a piece of piss. Or something like that.

Fuck no. What use is a perfect, suffering-free world to me if I am not in it?pawiz wrote:Question for those that answered "yes". Would you swap the baby for yourself to gain the same outcome?
A book is a version of the world. If you do not like it, ignore it; or offer your own version in return.

You're a person of many fine morales.Ace wrote:It's mankinds fault for being in the current state that it is. Resulting in torture of an infant for a short cut to our perfect would without any work being done to make it is a very cheap, curruptive and evil way to go about it, we'd have nothing to look back on in archivement of our actions. We made this mess, we clean it up. Even if it was possible to end all our problems that we made by ending an inocent life, I would never support it. Well that's just me.
Unfortunately we won't build it ourselves. Religion fights everything that can be a long term greater good.

Why take away my understanding?pawiz wrote:Question for those that answered "yes". Would you swap the baby for yourself to gain the same outcome?
Why make me a confused baby who only understands the fact I hurt.
Why not leave me as I am hang me upside down stick a needle in the back of my neck and leave me to drip dry.
I'd do it.

IF I thought that the world would be a better place without me then I wouldn't be here,BUT nothing will improve for the lack of an EDDY or for the pain of one baby

Of course we won't build it. If you got a choice between a cold pint and hot women instead of back breaking labour, which would you choose?Even Liam wrote:

Please, can we keep on track here? This is a serious area, and a serious subject.
There are plenty of real-world "cases" where people have been faced with this decision.

I say no because the baby gets no say in it. If it was a sane adult who consented to be tortured to death to stop all the suffering in the world yes, but not an unwilling victim.

Re: Would You Torture a Baby to End World Suffering?
In the set of "morality" cases discussed in The God Delusion, this was one of the deciding factors. You might kill one person to save five, but if that one person has no say, and no responsibility for whatever might have happened/may happen to the others, it doesn't seem the right thing to do for most people.Arse wrote:I say no because the baby gets no say in it. Re: Would You Torture a Baby to End World Suffering?
Philosophically that might be true but let's face it there are a whole planet worth of suffering babies, If you could stop it all by causing the suffering of ONE .Then I call you a coward
if you dither about with Choices ,You might be the one to explain to that child when it grows up why it lives in a world full of pain .
silly question really and know I know that it's an RD thing I have even less interest ,If a tree falls in a forest etc etc etc

Could you do it if it was your baby - to save the world of babies?
To sacrifice one to save all, without a consent of the one that is to be sacrificed? Not IMO.
