Beauty pageants are ludicrous anyway, and if you go in for one, you take a risk. You put yourself up there, for people to take pot shots at.
I doubt if this was political correctness. There were only about a dozen girls who entered. And the losers in that pic don't look that special.
I've only had one black girlfriend, but I have to say that she was better looking than this one, and she had no ambitions to be a beauty queen.
I googled Michelle Taylor, and found two Michelle Taylors straight away who are better looking :

All joking and cynicism aside, it's also about who has the best charitable aspirations pitch. "I want to help the seal pups/save the rain forest/cure cancer ..." etc.

Note: I don't watch beauty pageants. Life is too short.

I checked the comments on several news sites that reported on this to make sure it wasn't a spoof. Transsexual / transvestite was pretty common in every MSM site I checked. I don't think I saw a single supportive comment. It's not the white girls were prettier, it is that she is so fucking scary looking. Yeah! Whatever happened to beauty is in the eye of the beholder? What's politically incorrect IMHO, is the very idea of beauty pageants, in that they pretend beauty can be arbitrated this way.
Of course they do add to that some extremely superficial personality/philanthropic dimensions, which only serves to confound their whimsical arbitrary outcomes.
