No, the devil prevented the switch being thrown for reasons obscure and strategic that have led to the present day. God does not intervene with regards human stupidity. :coffee:

Bigger question, what would have been lost?

You gotta love the rearguard defense of US government scientist Parker Jones - who was "responsible" for mechanical safety of nuclear devices.
In it, he comments on and corrects Lapp's narrative of the accident, including listing that three out of the four fail safe mechanisms failed, not five out of six as originally thought by Lapp.
Oh! well then.. thats Sooooooo much better Mr Jones. Only 4 safety mechanisms and all but one failed. How dare anybody accuse you of having two more safety mechanisms. :console: The important thing is that these things aught to be reported accurately while the government is keeping secrets from the people; not petty little quibbles, like the fact that you almost caused a nuclear calamity of epic proportions. You should be given a medal, because one third of your safety mechanisms for preventing nuclear disaster worked.

And what about the aircraft? Preflight maintenance checks and security procedures hmmmm? Don't they count in your list of stop-checks? :ask:

What bothers me, is that the government only ever reveals this stuff when it absolutely legally has to. It deliberately evades accountability and criticism, like it were an intelligence agency of some enemy force. Shouldn't we be expecting to be informed of this stuff? Shouldn't heads roll for this kind of thing?

It would be a old hat story for the history buffs by now. World changing events don't change the world for very long. :coffee:

Ironically, in the universe it DID explode JimC also happens to be a solipsist who denies it as objective fact.

A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.
