I tend not to have use for the specialized stuff that is often paid with it.
Have you looked about much at what can be bought these days with bitcoin? Besides the benifit of spendability bitcoin has a number of atractive advantages; not least of which is that while you arn't spending it, it's value tends to grow magicaly by a whole order of magnitude every year or so. I'd rather not spend it myself, but then if nobody would spend it then there'd be no incentive to earn it. What it's usefull for is not just being able to pay for stuff, but to pass micro transactions (less than $10) over the net, without being hit with a fee that's almost as large as the amount. Split the cost of Pizza with freinds P2P, that sort of thing; not to mention using the smartphone as a wallet. The freedom is amazing. Also for non-profit orgs its pure magic, as donations tend to be in the micro range and people don't want their philanthropy being gobbled up by greedy banks and the likes of PoxPal.
As for real taxes, be careful, on the job we tend to lack a sense of humour.

Not sure what you mean by that Svartalf, but bitcoin is functionaly no different to cash, except that it can be sent electronicaly. Would you lack humor to a similar extent if I asked 'Can taxes be paid in cash?'.

In the real world you can accept cash payments and you are still legaly obliged to pay tax. Bitcoin is no different. It's completely legal and trades with the same liabilities and obligations as any cash transaction. It's up to each of us to pay our taxes and show ligitimate accounting etc.
