People ALWAYS exaggerate.
Where are all the giants these days? They seem to have died out since the invention of the tape measure.
Did Jesus cure a leper? Or did the leper feel a bit better for a couple of hours, and people just exaggerated.
Dragons are pretty thin on the ground these days. But there are large reptiles. They just don't breathe fire.
Did Jimmy Saville abuse hundreds of kids? Or just fiddle with a few slightly underage slags?
Everybody exaggerates now. So whenever anybody claims something, we should divide it by ten. Problem solved.

While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.

Re: People ALWAYS exaggerate.
I thought we had found some Cro-Magnon skeletons around 6 foot 7 ?
That's pretty damn big if they weren't just tall and lanky like basketball players. And that height could only be an average, we don't have enough full grown adult males to know. We've certainly had a lot of non-human giant species made extinct in the last 50K years, and that is within the time of modern humans spreading globally. Maybe earlier humans only assumed that large humans must live along large beasts, or perhaps giant was just a relative term.

A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

Many giant legends were a result of fossils that regularly turned up.Tyrannical wrote:I thought we had found some Cro-Magnon skeletons around 6 foot 7 ?

The cyclopse legend in Greece is thought to be due to mammoth bones turning up regularly.

I have no need to exaggerate, being the superior human I am. I'm already exceptional.
OK, mom called it "special" but I figured that means "exceptional".

Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Since you are exaggerating we have to divide X by 10 and then divide that by 10, which evens it out to X.mistermack wrote:[
