Fingerprint iPhone, will NSA track and snoop?

Fingerprint iPhone, will NSA track and snoop?

Image

We know the NSA likes to snoop, and they could snatch the fingerprint of users and cross-reference them with their database. The phone GPS even gives their exact location.

Escaped criminal on the lam uses the new iPhone. Bam! NSA picks up fingerprint, notes outstanding warrant. Contacts local police and give them GPS information.

Unidentified fingerprint at the crime scene? Not anymore, they just bought a new iPhone! Time to pay them a little visit :{D

Not a problem. The Feds have my fingerprint, twice. In no time, the Gubmnet will collect all your DNA too.

The police have already got my fingerprints on file.

But luckily for me, they don't know who they belong to.l

If I ever spend five hundred quid on a phone, I'll NEED locking up.
Anyway, I've got fingerprint recognition on my laptop. Never used it. First thing you do is disable it. Delete it. Don't want it.
All I want from a phone is to pick it up, dial a number, and talk.
I'll probably have my current phone in five years time. Because it manages that fine.

Not sure of the technical details, but surely the fingerprint recognition part could be kept separate from anything else, so it can't be hacked wirelessly from the outside (obviously, if they had physical access to the phone, that would be different...)
Nurse, where the fuck's my cardigan?

I work at a daycare. I have to go to the police station to get it done.

We have something similar, but without the finger prints. Here, in any job where you are in contact with kids, you have to have a police check...

Apple "claims" it is, but if there were government backdoors into it, Apple wouldn't tell us.They also claim you can disable the fingerprint security, but who says there isn't a backdoor to read fingerprints from just normal touch use of the phone?

Fingerprint identification + GPS tracking, I bet 1984 never thought of that.

I don't know about the phones, but on my laptop, the fingerprint reader doesn't look anything like a key. And you have to swipe your finger across it, so it reads it like a scanner. Just using the key wouldn't get a reading.
So I don't think they could get a print from normal use. And the fingerprint key would be obviously different anyway.
So if you didn't like it, you could just put tape over it.

It looks to me it is reading it directly from the touch screen. It probably *could* do partial scans when ever you touch the screen.
