American dinosaur companies need a small very well looked after brain. Plenty of muscle. And muscle is cheap around food.

What will the world be like after its ruler is removed?

I don't understand how this addresses concerns about working for an increasingly profitable company while seeing significant raises only go to the top, and no increase in starting pay.Warren Dew wrote: So if McDonald's has a bad year and takes a loss, all those people should work for free for a year?
The question comes across like you're trying to convince an employee that it is in their best interests to accept less pay today despite increasing profits rewarding the top because if things should go bad tomorrow they may still earn their current wage.
The latest fad is a poverty social. Every woman must wear calico,
and every man his old clothes. In addition each is fined 25 cents if
he or she does not have a patch on his or her clothing. If these
parties become a regular thing, says an exchange, won't there be
a good chance for newspaper men to shine?

If McDonalds had to pay $15 an hour, they'd be a lot pickier about who they did hire. I bet a great many current employees would be let go and replaced with those worth $15 an hour. Illegal immigrants, school dropouts, and ex-cons would be the first to go.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

I don't see how there are any concerns. The fact is, profits vary a lot from year to year, and wages don't. That's the way it should be. If workers want more than usual in the good years, they have to be willing to accept less than usual in the bad years.Sean Hayden wrote:I don't understand how this addresses concerns about working for an increasingly profitable companyWarren Dew wrote: So if McDonald's has a bad year and takes a loss, all those people should work for free for a year?

and let go their most experienced workers? I can get not letting ex cons near the tills, but school dropouts are as good at flipping burgers as college boys, if not better, and illegals can be pressured into giving you more for your $15 than a legal worker.

Or we'd go back to the day when fast food workers were professionals.

If the poor would stop being so damned greedy, the rest of us would be much better off.

People being paid pushes up the price of everything. People should work for nothing.
