It might get us some direct attention, which I don't care for.

On the other hand, if he does try to make a big deal over it, it would backfire as all non-indoctrinated (the vast majority of the "atheist community" would see the satire. It's not vulnerable to getting stuck out there de-contextualized and being used to misrepresent the forum.

As far as I know, we've handled things quite well as far as when harassment issues have cropped up here. Our meets have pretty damn good gender ratios compared to the wider atheist community. And I'd rather our reputation reflect that.

So, maybe I did betray a bit of overreaction there. A bit of jumpiness.

I don't think it's all that unwarranted though for other reasons beside PZ. There are slick slimey creeps out there after all and they're a pain in the ass for the forum to deal with. They're probably very eager to see it harder for claims of rape and harassment to be believed. They're probably as eager as a lot of people to see PZ have some shit come down on him.

I don't want any of those to see this place as a friendly environment.

I agree Robert. The Whole MRA MGTOW mob seem exactly the same only they blame women for everything rather than men. I think however they're as likely to latch on to this place as the Ape lust contingent. Both sexes have political and cultural issues we still need to iron out. It is not helped by finger pointing at "teh menz" or "teh wimminz".

Ratz might argue, might disagree fundamentally with each other, but with the exception of a few members I think even through heated angry debate there is still a level of respect we have. There have been a spate of reactions here in the UK, mostly to the likes of twitter, but also chat sites, where 'bullying' and bating have resulted in legal action of one sort or another. The internet isn't the wild west place it was in the past and one should be a bit more cautious I suspect than in the past too.

I've never been to other sotes that yoy speak of, but hear about them hear of course. I do not wish to visit them as I think from what excerpts I've read that some of them obviously have egos too large to feasibly be taken seriously and they seek some sort of guru status.
