Criminals are often poor because their anti-social behavior is not conducive for holding a good paying job.

Now I'm not saying all poor people are criminals and poverty causes crime unlike some people. But people that commit crimes are likely to have dropped out of high school, use violence, steal, lazy; all things that would prevent them from ever get a decent middle class job. They aren't criminal because they are poor, they are poor because they are criminals.

Studying hard in school doesn't guarantee you won't be poor, but goofing off in school almost insures you will be. Same as being non-violent and honest doesn't guarantee a job, but no one will hire the violent and dishonest. Being poor doesn't make you a criminal, but being a criminal will keep you poor.

The reason I'm not poor is I have a decent job, which I got by studying hard in school and by having a clean criminal record.
