People everywhere seem to find it necessary .. and not just about negative things. An example just seen on Australian children's television, a coach talking positively about the increasing diversity of players in the football competition ... "whites, blacks and even Asians" ...

Well certainly countries which have histories of racial oppression seem to be hung up on race.
I guess being in a country which has only had racial diversity in very recent history we, Irish that is, missed out on all the nuance associated with the racism we see in UK, Europe, USA and Australia/New Zealand. These are countries which enslaved people and then had to go through the slaves rebelling. I can imagine why the bitterness would thrive after generations.

Although, it didn't take very long for our countrymen to start immitating the racism they've seen elsewhere.

We do, now, have racism in Ireland.

Actually, strictly speaking, they are not, because each of these would interfere with the efficient market. They are distorting interferences, and as far as capitalism is concerned, no different from state interventions.
