I've never understood why people want such creatures as pets.

Or that they should be allowed to actually keep them without stringent safeguards that should apply to any animal ready and able to kill people.Coito ergo sum wrote:I've never understood why people want such creatures as pets.

My friend has a pet snake. Bastard tried strangle me a couple of times. I'm terrified to fall asleep at his place.

It's a big ass python. First time he tried strangle me I thought he was just being friendly and coming up to me for warmth (he had on a previous night). Before I knew it my neck was being grabbed way more comfortably than I'd prefer. I didn't even have a safe word. I had to pry him off me and my friend just laughing at me.Cormac wrote:Animavore wrote:My friend has a pet snake. Bastard tried strangle me a couple of times. Your friend that is, not the snake.
And if it's not illegal to keep such an animal in such circumstances, talk to your local TD.

I'm don't think it is illegal to keep them. He's usually in a big glass case he can't get out of. But he's let out some times.

Re: Snake 'strangles two children' in New Brunswick, Canada
I find this almost unbelievable, although any other explanation seems equally unlikely.
How can a snake kill so silently, that the one kid didn't wake the other? And isn't it unusual for a snake to kill two victims?
It would normally kill, and then try to swallow it's victim.
But how can a snake strangle those kids in complete silence? To choke off their ability to cry out, it would need to get it's coil around the neck without waking the victim, or so quickly that the first child didn't have a chance to wake the other.
If I was investigating, I would be looking very very very carefully at how this happened. It might be right, but it sounds nearly impossible.

Just bring a semi-French goose then.
You can introduce it as "Here is mon goose" - that should do the trick.
