German boy finds 'a mummy' in grandmother's attic
A 10-year-old German boy has found what appears to be a mummy hidden in a corner of his grandmother's attic.
The "mummy" was inside a sarcophagus complete with hieroglyphic adornments, packed in a wooden crate.
But it is unclear whether the bandaged item found by Alexander Kettler in Diepholz, northern Germany, is a genuine relic from ancient Egypt.
Alexander's father Lutz Wolfgang Kettler, a dentist, said he had not X-rayed the mysterious find.
Instead he plans to load it into his car and drive it to Berlin to be examined by experts, he told the Bild newspaper.
Mr Kettler said he had little doubt that the sarcophagus, as well as a death mask and a canopic jar - used by ancient Egyptians to store removed organs - found nearby, were replicas.

Isis what you did there.

Nope, in Psycho, the mummy was actually the mummy, here, the item's identity still is a mystery.

It's all idle speculation until the bandages come off.

Re: German boy finds 'a mummy' in grandmother's attic
When I was about that age I found a human skeleton eroding out in a creek bank not far from where we lived. I went home and told my Dad, who was bit skeptical, so he drove me back to the site and after being convinced we presented at the local police station. They drove us back to the site and declared that it was indeed human and thanked me for livening up their day. It was obviously quite old and nothing much came of it, other than a brief note in the local rag: "Schoolboy finds skeleton". My big sister, who at the time was interstate for brain surgery (or was that the time she half her lung removed - I can't recall) saw mention of it on the TV, and although no names were used, automatically assumed I was the schoolboy.
Although it may look like a forum, this site is actually a crowd-sourced science project modelling the slow but inexorable heat death of the universe.

I hate to have to be the one who brings this up but...Since this is Germany, we have to apply Rule 34.
