London (CNN) -- Curtis Woodhouse earns a living punching people in the face, so it's fair to say he's one of the last men you'd hurl insults at if you saw him on the street.
But people tend to be a bit braver once they don the anonymity cloak the internet provides, and the 32 year-old English boxing champ faced a flurry of ugly abuse from trolls online after he lost his most recent bout in March.
One particular troll, @Jimmyob88, had been harassing the boxer in tweets and in direct messages for six months, according to Woodhouse. "He'd threatened my children saying 'be careful where you send them to school,' he threatened my wife. He'd written me saying he hoped I'd die in my next fight so I could go and see my dead dad ... it just went on and on."
But after the bully branded the boxer a "disgrace" and a "complete joke" and urged him to retire following his fight last month, Woodhouse finally snapped and, rather than trade blows online, he used Twitter to turn the tables on his troll.
Woodhouse put a "Twitter bounty" out on @Jimmyob88's head, offering anyone £1,000 for information about the user's real identity. Within minutes he had his troll's real name -- James O'Brien -- some photos of O'Brien and his home address. Woodhouse decided to make a house call.

I suppose he could have just given the appropriate information to the police. If there really were threats involved then I'm pretty sure they'd be interested.

Trolls are not the scourge of the web, simpletons are the scourge of the web. The kind of person who thinks that everyone should celebrate them bragging about themselves publicly and act like Ophelia when people disagree. Fuck them, they shouldn't be on the fucking net anyway, there like a bunch of entitled tourists turning up at an unspoilt alien culture and whining there's no MacDonalds until other simpletons come along and turn the place into a tacky resort for simpletons at which point they start complaining about the local culture being inhospitable.

Oh I'm well aware FBM. I do have my own website, have had work published and art hung in galleries, so I've had some fair share of dicks commenting and sending me e-mails including words which could be construed as death threats (if you were a simpleton). You know what I never did, cried to the police or hunted them down like some nutcase, nor take to the web like some wobbly blue haired drunk looking for sympathy and action from other simpletons.

Apparently people only have the right to "nice" opinions? Nah fuck that. Grow a pair or fuck off back to meatspace. Actually don't bother, most of them should just fuck off back to meatspace, they add nothing of any value to the net, just clutter it up.

This sort of shit is exactly the sort of thing they're going to use to turn the net into another anodyne mall space. Oh kiddie porn! Oh Trolls! Oh horrible Facebook sites. It's all just ways to convince the public that the net should be out of their hands, locked and with proprietary software in browsers to filter out everything but those who have most to gain.

I never attract trolls. No idea why though. Don't troll people either because I can't muster the effort it takes.
