So... Egypt...
Getting ugly and strange over there.
I can see why the Egyptian army removed Morsi, I'm sure they've still never forgiven E.I.J (and thus the Salafi's of The Muslim Brotherhood) for offing Sadat and have seen the ramifications of a puppet democracy under a theocracy. They know too well there is a move to turn Egypt into an Islamic republic. This is being exploited by the Islamists as interference from the West in removing another democratically elected leader by a supportive military junta.
Going to be another hot summer over there I think.

I'll take a military dictatorship over a religious one any day.
Everything I'm reading from several news sources seems to have a consensus that the majority is more concerned with jobs, prosperity and fun than religion.

What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

It will be interesting to watch this develop. I suspect they'll have to revolt a few more times in the future before they get what they want.

On a personal level I'm pleased with this outcome, and on a general level unsurprised that a large-scale revolution continues.

The Arab is jolly good in the desert and all that. Will lead you to an oasis at the drop of a pith helmet. But the fellow gets all jittery, skittish and discombobulated if you give him an ounce of self determination and responsibility don't you know. The Arab simply can't vote in the right chap it seems.

And it's why I've always been uneasy about the 'Arab Spring'.

Just so, old boy. Did a lot better when we shouldered the burden, eh wot? It's this democracy thing, just isn't for everyone. Egypt isn't part of the super "civilized" first world, so I'm surprised anyone here gives a fuck.

Yeah, but she had to bump off her sister and two brothers, also having married both of the latter. Wouldn't fly now ...Gawdzilla Sama wrote:It just hasn't been the same since Cleo died.
