... for another couple of days at least. He looked certain to be downgraded to mere Scottishness about two hours ago when he was two sets down in his quarter final match at Wimbledon against Fernando Verdasco. But he came through in the end ...

I think Murray will benefit from having been really put through the wringer. In all the previous rounds, he was a bit sluggish, doing just enough to win each time in straight sets.
