What I mean is, it would be nice if you went and did something that might mitigate the likelihood of you acting like a edgy, defensive fanatic when you come into this forum. (Definition of a fanatic: someone who cannot change his mind and will not change the subject.) And only a fanatic could see this thread and feel compelled to derail it into yet another rant about how his oppressive government wants to restrict his constitutional right to own a rack of M249s.
I gotta concur with Ian.

Give it a rest now and then.

Oh, and what a crazy event. Sounds more like a Hollywood script than reality. :o

The cars filled with fuel somehow became uncoupled, causing them to roll downhill into the town and derail, said the spokesman, Joe McGonigle.

"It seems that the brakes were tight on locomotives," Mr McGonigle told La Presse. "We found the locomotives higher up, half a mile (800m) away."

...
I thought all rail cars have fail-safe breaks, so they need to be connected to the locomotive for the breaks to be released. Perhaps not with freight?

I'd guess it was quick and painless....really the best way to exit the show. Compared with dying from something like cancer it was a blessing. :coffee:

Maybe. But I imagine some were caught in the blast, buried in rubble and alive when it caught fire.

Natural painkillers would have made it less a nightmare....and the pain also lessened. Anyway people die. :coffee:

I see you've never watched a building burn down with people in it. That "natural painkiller" crap only works five or six levels down.

We seem to have empathy atrophy from some people in this thread. Poor buggers caught up in this.

I'm just pointing out that the warm-and-fuzzy "they probably didn't suffer" thing is rather divorced from reality.

Ah, okay then. I'm sometimes accused of being "cold blooded". Well, I've earned that. :coffee:
