It's cold, windy and drizzling here. I'm going to be forced to sit and drink.

That's what I like about the UK, the weather always provides a reason to drink.

It's unpleasantly warm and humid at the moment. I often wonder how the hell people lived here before air conditioning. And screened porches. Fucking mosquitoes can carry a two year old off.

It's 90 degrees F here. Lovely. I will be availing myself of the screened in patio out back this evening, with a cool beverage.

Big thunderheads building to the north, probably coming off Tampa Bay. Just felt a cool breeze, if we get a storm it will cool off nicely and I'll be out on the unscreened but Citronella Tiki-Torched All To Hell patio with a cooling beverage or several. I'm thinking fish tacos and guacamole might be in order, with a dip in the pool and perhaps a puff or two of green. It be Friday, mofos.

Heat Wave May Break World's Hottest Temperature Record

A brutal and potentially historic heat wave is in store for the West as parts of Nevada, Arizona and California may get dangerously hot temperatures starting Thursday and lasting through next week.

All-time records are likely to be threatened in normally hot places — including Death Valley, Calif., which holds the record for the highest reliably recorded air temperature on Earth at 134°F. That mark was set on July 10, 1913, and with forecast highs between 125°F to 130°F this weekend, that record could be threatened. The last time Death Valley recorded a temperature at or above 130°F was in 1913.

Las Vegas and Phoenix, two cities well-known for their hot and dry summers, are also predicted to approach all-time record territory. Last Vegas’ all-time high temperature record is 117°F and Phoenix’s high is 122°F. Excessive heat warnings are in effect in both cities from Friday through Monday.

This is mirroring what happened in Australia last summer. We broke all our records, particularly consecutive day records. I can't remember the exact record, but Alice Springs and the region between there and QLD border had something like 10 days in a row over 48C (118F).

Is there anywhere in the world, where the daytime max is 21 all year round? I can't believe you people stay in these furnaces.
I don't see why people in Britain complain. The summers are great, not too hot, ( usually ). And the winters aren't too severe.

The only snag is that the winters are about two months too long. But a nice long holiday somewhere warm in mid-winter would fix that. I can't understand why British people get on a plane, and head for the sun, when the weather is perfect here.
January or February would make more sense.
