Yeah, there's no doubt it (Labor's internal mess) is true. Last night just confirmed for me how much of a joke party they are.

I'd rather vote for a party that had sound long term education, health and environmental policy reform as its agenda, and a leadership that could communicate its policies to the electorate. In doing so, a fuckwit like Abbott should be nowhere in sight and maybe Turnbull would be a credible opponent.
The boats, the boats. Stop the fucking boats.
I want a government that can communicate the need for a humanitarian response to the influx of refugees and not play political football with the issue because no one wins.
Gillard didn't communicate well for whatever reason. Rudd will do better. Whether he can unite the ALP is another matter.

The main thing is, why can't they spell "Labour" correctly?

Well it says here that it was labour until 1912 and that the ALP predates the British and NZ labour parties.

If I was the GG, I wouldn't let them take power unless they had the correct spelling.Magicziggy wrote:Well it says here that it was labour until 1912 and that the ALP predates the British and NZ labour parties.

I really don't think we'll ever get a government like that, unless we have SERIOUS media reform in this country. And even then...Magicziggy wrote:I'd rather vote for a party that had sound long term education, health and environmental policy reform as its agenda, and a leadership that could communicate its policies to the electorate. I don't reckon he will. Although, he had a good start today in parliament. I was impressed. Still feel sorry for Julia, though.Gillard didn't communicate well for whatever reason. Rudd will do better. Whether he can unite the ALP is another matter.

I wonder if "freedom of the press" was ever meant to protect large multinational corporations run by a handful of rich people?rEvolutionist wrote:I really don't think we'll ever get a government like that, unless we have SERIOUS media reform in this country. A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

According to the latest Galaxy poll, 75% of Labor supporters and 50% of Coalition supporters agree that Labor made the right decision by rejecting Julia Gillard and endorsing Kevin Rudd.rEvolutionist wrote:This is far FAR worse than Hawke/Keating. This will take a LONG time to heal.Hermit wrote:Like when Keating ousted Hawke?rEvolutionist wrote:Labor is fucked after this. You can't have a party that is so self-centred remain credible. This (Rudd winning) is going to do MASSIVE damage to the Labor brand. This is going to leave long term scars. Gillard might have got flogged at the election, but Labor as a brand would still have a bit of credibility. That's all gone now.Hermit wrote:Go, Julia Gillard, go! Please do fuck off.
During his time as Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, has undone a lot of the damage John Howard has wreaked with his atrocious tax scale changes. He has also had the courage to use budgetary measures that resulted in the global recession of a few years ago to bypass Australia, and he identified and removed 52 legislative disadvantages that de facto couples suffer under compared to formally married ones.
So, what has Gillard got to show for herself? Oh,that's right: she increased funding for evangelists as school chaplains tenfold. Being a self-professed atheist that indicates a profound character flaw. She's clearly beholden to the ALP's arch-conservative #1 numbers man, Don Farrell. She is the kind of politician that makes so many voters cynical of politicians.
The two party preferred vote for Labor rose from 45% a fortnight ago to 49% now. Time will tell if that's just a bounce.

There's no doubt it is a "bounce". A bounce will always happen in situations like this. As you say, the question is whether it will hold. To be fair to the plastic git, he's had a good start as PM. Abbott is a fucking coward and he has no reason to avoid policy issues now. He's going to be shown up very quickly for the imbecile he is. If I was Rudd, I'd call an election as soon as possible. He could actually win this if he can ride the wave of popularity in the leadership change.
