In the US we have fire regulations that limit the maximum number of people who can occupy such a structure at one time, and it's up to the owner to make sure that the venue is safe by limiting the crowd and ejecting and banning unruly patrons. If they don't do so, and fights become common, they yank the bar's liquor license.
I'm sure that happens everywhere but a lesser restriction from a complete ban can include compulsory licensed security (not armed of course) and no plastic containers. I would hope closing a capitalist business would be a last resort

It is. Usually somebody has to get killed, or the police have to respond to riots three times a week before they'll revoke a liquor license.

Well deaths in pub brawls are pretty rare (its hard to kill someone with fists or even a glass) through the definition of riot would be interesting, mass brawling happens all the time

I think the body count in the US and UK would say otherwise , the number of people who end up in casualty on a Friday/Saturday night from pub fist fights and leave the next day also says the same

It's hard for the average person. I'm sure there are trained people that can do it with ease. But, that not likely who you're going to end up trading punches with at a bar.

If you are kicking someone on the floor its likely to take minutes in most cases, normally before that a person will have calmed down or will have been pulled of (unlike a firearm which takes a fraction of second to kill)

Yeah, I've never seen a fight in public last more than half a minute.

Whenever I've gone drinking in Germany I've never felt a fight is about to break out at any minute, not sure why must be a culture thing or I just went to the right bars when i was in Munich

Or you just missed them by about nine decades. Beerhall brawls were all the rage, so to speak, then.

For the last 15 years, or so, I have been out drinking once or twice a week (like tonight, for example... ) and I almost NEVER see any trouble - and, on the rare occasions that I do, never anyone glassing anyone else! However, there are several pubs in my town where you can guarantee an average of several fights per night and the police being called a few times each month. So, why not ban glasses everywhere, just to be sure?

I have one answer to that... :airwank:

What happened to safety glasses?
You know...the ones that explode satisfyingly but break into a milion useless fragments so you can't actually glass anyone with them.
