I think this calls for a return to pewter tankards
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

Well when you consider that the British are the only people to use "glass" as a verb I think it not unreasonable :tea:

I must admit that's a pretty good argument right there.

Anyway I've been to several pubs and clubs that already use some sort of plastic that is fairly close to glass yet doesn't smash into sharp pieces. It might be the way forward regardless.

Plastic glasses are shit! But I see no objection for an order forcing individual pubs to serve in plastic following repeated disturbance. A blanket ban is never going to fly - CAMRA would cut off the real ale supply to the House of Commons!

Some low rent nightclubs use plastic glasses in old Melbourne town, which is sensible, given their clientele, but not in most standard pubs...

We use it as a verb here too (not surprising, really), and many problematic pubs use plastic instead of glass. I'm not sure if it is the pubs decision or some other body like the city council that has imposed it.
