I thought the police/council could restrict the use of glasses already?, plenty of bars at least that don't use glass.

As for banning alcohol there are good arguments to do so but equally good ones to keep it legal but restricted

That in itself is never an argument for anything, take into consideration benefit/harm to the individual throw in benefit/harm to society as a whole, balance that with the consequences of banning it and then work out what to do next

Maybe, but the point of alcohol consumption is that a person gradually loses their judgement and self-control. If they become aggressive as a result, you don't want to have any glasses or bottles lying around. So I can see the point of this.

Agreed, but I think that only applies to certain pubs. Take my local village one for example; really really wouldn't see anything kicking off in there!

Most of the glass from beer/other alcohol bottles near me seems to be carefully smashed by its last users and left on the local children's playground and surrounding parkland. Whether it's bought in a pub or supermarket, I couldn't say.

MrJonno, can you think of anything that is definitely riskier than using glass that you wouldn't accept a ban on, and that is not also considered an essential where essentials are things like dangerous forms of transportation?

If so, how would you argue against a ban on that thing?
