Re: Guns used for lawful self defense Pt. 4
As I have said before, the high US murder rate has two causes. Availability of hand guns, and a sick gun culture, as clearly demonstrated by the vehemence of the pro gun debaters here.
Canada lacks the sickness of that gun culture. Even so, Canada has a higher firearms murder rate than other British Commonwealth nations, showing the southern influence.
The other nation adversely affected by the USA's lousy laws and gun culture is Mexico, which has a very high murder rate. A lot of the guns in Mexico, especially hand guns, have been traced to a US origin.
So you American gun nutters should be aware that your sick attitudes are killing Canadians and Mexicans as well as your own countrymen.

Much of Mexico's murders can be attributed to the US in another sense; the insatiable demand for illegal drugs in the US fuels the vicious gang warfare in Mexico for control of this lucrative trade.Blind groper wrote:As I have said before, the high US murder rate has two causes. Legalising drugs in the US would have a massive effect on their own crime rate, and Mexico's as well.
This may well be a point that Collector and Seth could agree with...

Re: Guns used for lawful self defense Pt. 4
This is our problem why, exactly? If Mexico doesn't like the violence caused by the smuggling of drugs into the US and gun smuggling into Mexico from the US then Mexico probably ought to seal their border with the US.JimC wrote:

Oh, wait, they don't want to seal the border because drugs, guns and remittances from illegal aliens in the US quite literally support the entire Mexican economy, which would come crashing down into chaos if the flow of US dollars south were stopped.
Fucking Mexican Army personnel have been assisting drug smugglers by shooting at US Border Patrol agents with .50 caliber Browning M2 machine guns WE SOLD THEM.
Fuck Mexico and Mexicans.

Sure, their economy has a parasitic relationship with the US, and corruption and violence is rife.Seth wrote:This is our problem why, exactly? Fuck Mexico and Mexicans.
However, just like much of the criminal activity in the US, fuelled by the massive underground economy of the drug trade, Mexico's gang culture would take a big hit if drugs were legalised in the US.

Seth said "Fuck Mexico and Mexicans."
With an attitude as callous as that, is it any wonder that Seth is so disrespected by the more civilised members of this forum?
We have seen it before, with Seth saying pretty much the same thing about those sad and unfortunate people who attempt suicide.
My own feeling is that all humans are of value, and deserving of respect and consideration. In days gone by, Seth's callousness would have been expended on people of different skin colour. I have met enough Mexicans to appreciate and love them as worthy fellow humans.

I like Mexicans just fine...as long as they stay in Mexico, which is their country, and ask (and receive) permission before coming to MY nation. Those that do are welcome, those that don't, fuck 'em. And you.

That's a weird comment, Mr Jonno - everybody, unless they're a complete moron, takes steps to reduce the taxes they pay to the legal minimum possible.MrJonno wrote:It ceases to be your nation when you do your best to avoid paying taxes towards itI like Mexicans just fine...as long as they stay in Mexico, which is their country, and ask (and receive) permission before coming to MY nation

Re: Guns used for lawful self defense Pt. 4
If anybody is paying little or no tax without breaking any laws, the fault is down to the tax laws, and the government responsible for them, not the person taking advantage of them. I want a competent government, not a bunch of legal and financial dimwits...MrJonno wrote:No Seth works on paying none at all, legally never morally dubious from what he claimsJimC wrote:That's a weird comment, Mr Jonno - everybody, unless they're a complete moron, takes steps to reduce the taxes they pay to the legal minimum possible.MrJonno wrote:It ceases to be your nation when you do your best to avoid paying taxes towards itI like Mexicans just fine...as long as they stay in Mexico, which is their country, and ask (and receive) permission before coming to MY nation

No it doesn't. Avoiding taxes is perfectly legal and ethical. I'm allowed to configure my lifestyle in ways that minimize my tax liability if I so choose, and the Supreme Court has said so.MrJonno wrote:It ceases to be your nation when you do your best to avoid paying taxes towards itI like Mexicans just fine...as long as they stay in Mexico, which is their country, and ask (and receive) permission before coming to MY nation
Tax EVASION, which is not paying taxes you justly owe, is a crime.
Tax AVOIDANCE is just good business and common sense. Nobody should give the government a dime more than they are legally required to give, because the government doesn't need it and will just waste it.

Re: Guns used for lawful self defense Pt. 4
Damned right I configure my life to avoid incurring tax liability. I've paid more in taxes in my life than the government deserved to take, and so I'm done paying taxes. Now I'm going to configure my life so that I, like so may others, can be on the receiving end of government largess, as is my legal right.MrJonno wrote:No Seth works on paying none at all, legally never morally dubious from what he claimsJimC wrote:That's a weird comment, Mr Jonno - everybody, unless they're a complete moron, takes steps to reduce the taxes they pay to the legal minimum possible.MrJonno wrote:It ceases to be your nation when you do your best to avoid paying taxes towards itI like Mexicans just fine...as long as they stay in Mexico, which is their country, and ask (and receive) permission before coming to MY nation

So, not only is Seth endangering his fellow citizens by accumulating tools for murder, but he is also requiring them to pay for those tools. That stinks!

Doubt if he would come out well from an IRS review but then again its a good excuse to kill some tyrannical government officerBlind groper wrote:So, not only is Seth endangering his fellow citizens by accumulating tools for murder, but he is also requiring them to pay for those tools. That stinks!
