Into Darkness
Re: Into Darkness
In fairness I didn't even realise he'd ruined anything. I thought he was waffling about Star Trek 2 or something

Re: Into Darkness
I've spoiled nothing. It is derivative in all respects and lacks any originality and so there is nothing to spoil. If there was anything new I'd have not said anything. Even the Kirk/Khans flight between spaceships in spacesuits is a hashed up reworking that is done in scores of sci-fi movies. The story line is a mish-mash of the paranoid terror years and bits from here and there. The characters achieve only half the depth of the first movie and are so cardboard like I had to watch the movie in 3d to see some signs of life in them. Very good action movie but a very poor in terms of humour, except for one or two quips, or ideas or character storyline. Whereas the movie could have been used to develop the characters all I saw was a sterile projection of the fossilized motifs developed first time around. The movie was inward looking and the Klingons where simply props for the story to project onto and fire at, and the prime directive was broken....whilst the consequences of that were kept at the level of 'you broke the rules' rather than anything more.

Re: Into Darkness
I didn't spoil anything. It was unoriginal. It was a patchwork of the already done. Risk averse scripting where play it safe made it look less convincing than a Frankenstein figure.

Good book, I read thirty years ago, but the only thing dark in Star Trek was the bad guys greasy hair. Another stereotype.JimC wrote:The Dark is Rising

Re: Into Darkness
Saw it today on 3D Imax. Apart from the sound which was so loud my ears were close to bleeding, it was hugely entertaining! The characters playing their usual roles and some 'in jokes' for fans.
A nice play on the ending of a previous ST film - but will say no more than that.
A spectacle so if you can see it in 3D..and Imax if you can too.
