It's kinda cool. Makes sense out of that long stream of techno-babble.Bella Fortuna wrote:Bang, zoom, straight to the moon?

[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]

Good stuff!

Although it may look like a forum, this site is actually a crowd-sourced science project modelling the slow but inexorable heat death of the universe.

Amazing what was possible with ancient sixties know how and hasn't been done since. Is it a lack of progress or a increase in fear?

What will the world be like after its ruler is removed?

The wow-factor was over. And there were more immediate things to be done.Scrumple wrote:Amazing what was possible with ancient sixties know how and hasn't been done since. Is it a lack of progress or a increase in fear?

Excuses...seems more America got scared and lost it's bottle the further away from the time we are....still no validators despite a widespread interest in things up there.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:The wow-factor was over. Re: Wanna land on the Moon?
The entire control/communications side could be ten times more sophisticated and still fit on a ordinary laptop today. Metallurgy and materials technology is vastly more advanced and effecient. The only thing which is a real cost that would have kept pace with inflation in todays world is the fuel. Someone should be able to cost it out and find a entire Apollo prog today would be a fractional cost of the original?Gawdzilla Sama wrote:I've heard other idiots say the same thing.Scrumple wrote:Excuses...seems more America got scared and lost it's bottle the further away from the time we are....still no validators despite a widespread interest in things up there.

Remove the idiot chains of the 1% holding human potential back and we shall return to the moon and do the other thing.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:Go on then.

Re: Wanna land on the Moon?
A combination of a shift in priorities for the the US, and a general myopia and ignorance among the general public which has made it increasingly difficult to sell the idea of publicly funded Moon missions. Both Democrats and Republicans alike, in the US, are equally likely to be opposed to spending money on space missions, but often for different reasons.Scrumple wrote:Amazing what was possible with ancient sixties know how and hasn't been done since. I have no idea why other countries haven't pursued it. I wish they would, because that might light a fire under some of our populace to push us to either going back or doing something better.

It's not a mere 1% holding human potential back. It's 80%.Scrumple wrote:Remove the idiot chains of the 1% holding human potential back and we shall return to the moon and do the other thing.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:Go on then.
