The whole concept of race is arbitrary. To draw lines at caucasian or oriental or Asian or African is just as arbitrary as Nordic, Germanic, Anglo-Saxon, Alpine, Mediterrenean and African -- and all the racial categories make no more, or less, sense than the common notions of racial distinctions today.

Since all humans are related by common descent, that makes for one race. The human race.

We're not even divided by melanin content in the skin as it's impossible to establish a boundary line for a "race" based on that.

Can we reproduce with animals? Other than Feck, of course.

Many animals of different sub-species (and sometimes even different species) can mate with a related sub-species and produce viable non-sterile offspring. Environmentalists worry about sub-species mixture because a sub-species is considered extinct when no unadmixed specimens are alive. Yes, cross breeding can result in extinctions.
