Is there a feminist opinion on m/f gendered languages?

Is there a feminist opinion on m/f gendered languages?

Many languages conjugate based on the sex of the noun, an obvious example being Le for masculine and La for feminine. In English, there has been a push to replace things like "workmen" for "workers" or "work people". Even worse, grammar rules when dealing with mixed gendered groups makes the male form dominant.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

Maybe you should ask that question over at the A+ forum. I'm sure you'd find a very receptive audience. :demon:

Surely I'm not the only one that ever wondered that?

Do they have a theoretical solution to the problem? Like in French they could ditch the feminine form entirely and just use the masculine as gender neutral.

I don't haunt that forum, and probably can't search it without registering. So if you had a link........

I haven't been there in months so I don't, but as I recall, everything is public and searchable (except members).
