I thought the complaints were all from women who were women in the 60's, not children. So it's not a paedo thing though I think it's obvious that in people's minds they are equating this with Savile et al since it's definitely being peddled for that market. As for sexual miscreants, you do have a point when it comes to Glitter, but then he was an unrepentant child fiddler, who was convicted and Michael Barrymore's career has hardly been in ascendency since his public shaming.En_Route wrote:I don't think the public would. ever take a convicted paedophile back into its warm embrace, however copious the crocodile tears being shed. Seems to me all the not- so- fancy footwork here is being executed by HM constabulary , who may have more than one agenda underlying their newfound zeal for prosecuting antique sexual miscreancies.Audley Strange wrote:Well I'm glad you all think he's not cynical enough, but let me point out some of the following. He and his client actions predominantly made up the majority of the news in the red tops. A few different scandals over the last few years have left his position as Gossipmonger General rather tenuous, especially a small corruption and sexual favours brouhaha that everyone seems to have forgotten due to the entirely coincidental press scandal which allowed Clifford to luckily play the victim and vicarious nobleman while the public ignore accusations being levelled against him.
The Spectacle delights in building people up to tear them down to witness their public contrition to forgive them for the sins we ignored to make them famous. If Clifford is not putting that into play at all I would be very surprised.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Clifford is doing this, I'm saying that it is not outside the realm of possibility that this has been generated by him and his allies. The irony of it is, that if it is not, then he's being damned by the very thing he and his cronies have made a career out of, the confessions of sexually exploited young women, probably for cash.
