13/13. Proof that I'm brilliant.

13 out of 13 here.
There was another quiz a couple of years ago where a lot of people here got 40 - 45 out of 50. This quiz is trivial by comparison.

That's stunning.

According to the sample results, some of the best-answered questions were those on sunscreen and antibiotics. The toughest question by far was the one on the Earth's atmosphere.

Makes sense. It was the most esoteric of the lot. I should know what Fracking is about, but I didn't.. just made an educated guess.

But ... but ... but ... it's elementary stuff. Literally. 78% Nitrogen, 21% Oxygen, .7% Argon. I knew that when I was probably 8 years old.Făkünamę wrote:Makes sense. It was the most esoteric of the lot. I should know what Fracking is about, but I didn't.. just made an educated guess.
Fracking on the other hand has only been on the public radar for the last few years, but it is rapidly becoming a political hot potato, if it it's not that already in some places.

It was all simple stuff.
I once applied to pharmacy school when it was still 5 years. I did not go, but took this PCAT test. I wonder how many perfect scores they see a year? Maybe 100.

Sorry. I meant Alfred Eisentstein.

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

Only 20% got that one - I wanted to go back and see what the wrong answers were. Do the global warming enthusiasts think CO2 has overtaken O2?klr wrote:According to the sample results, some of the best-answered questions were those on sunscreen and antibiotics. I answered all of them the way they wanted me to, but the "size of an electron" one is kind of questionable - based on quantum mechanics, electrons are what determines atom size, so the answer should be that they're the same size.

Technically, it's the outer electron shell that defines the diameter of the atom, which may contain more than one electron. Also, an electron has no definite position, only a range of probabilities including every point in the universe! How much space it takes up is debatable - but it certainly has a lot less mass than a total atom. The simple answer is that the electron is smaller though.Warren Dew wrote:Only 20% got that one - I wanted to go back and see what the wrong answers were. Did this on FB. The only one I missed was the one at the end about my age group.

Fracking and Mountaintop removal mining are both pretty controversial extraction techniques as of late. Matt Damon even made a movie about one of dem!Făkünamę wrote:Makes sense. It was the most esoteric of the lot. I should know what Fracking is about, but I didn't.. just made an educated guess.

The atmosphere question was the only one that make me think for a second. In my apartment, of course, methane is the gas most prevalent
