Why are some people getting their panties in a bunch about the trem rebels? Chechens are rebelling against the Russian Federation, yes it is being fuelled by Islamic extremism, It is hardly outside the bounds of possibilities that they are trying to call attention to their fellow Islamist struggles. Sheesh.

Coz it's a giant silly leap to say that someone born in Chechnya but who has lived half their life in the US is a Chechen rebel. Chechen rebels are are basically a military force that fights RUSSIA. Not the US.

So all those fighting for a cause have to be geographically rooted to the spot. Tell that to the Israels athletes or all those hijacked planes that rerouted to Cuba.

They are fighting for an independent Islamic state. Chechen jihadist fighters have fought in a variety of islamic terrorist struggle - they have been picked up in Afghanistan, Iraq and all over.

I agree that it is not sensible to use the term "Chechen rebels" for the 2 Boston bombers, but they may have connections with islamic fundamentalists from that region.

Nonsense. These bombs were pressure cookers with nails and ball bearings in it, and the explosive materials used were not illegal. It's certainly unlawful to do what they did, but they built these devices themselves out of lawfully obtained materials.

Ahem. I think bombs entirely made of legally obtainable components are illegal. It's just more difficult to enforce the law in a case like this.

Plus that there is a huge difference between having to make your own (illegal) bomb in the kitchen or garage, and just walk into a hardware store and (legally) buy a few kg of dynamite. How many more injuries would it lead to if just anybody could buy and handle dynamite freely.
