Why?

For the person who started this thread, I'm pretty sure it's because he lives 1000x closer to where this stuff is happening, as opposed to Bangui. That's about 6 miles versus about 6000 miles.

Not to mention that the suspect still at large is reportedly holed up in the building where I was working until 2 months ago.

I live closer to Bangui than Boston, yet I still care about Bostonians.

Therefore distance explains nothing.
