A thought just occurred. What imagery and iconography do they use in OZ at Easter? Here the religious stuff is very minor now and everything is about Spring - daffodils, bunnies, and of course eggs. Given it is the start of your autumn...?
Very cliched - eggs and bunnies, that's about it...

I get great schadenfreude hearing religious commentators moaning about how the true meaning of Easter is vanishing...

I think I can hear Eostre laughing in the background...
Nurse, where the fuck's my cardigan?
And my gin!

I suspect the aboriginal peoples have some mythological stuff of their own.

nah, coit.
Our struggle is not against actual corrupt individuals, but against those in power in general, against their authority, against the global order and the ideological mystification which sustains it.

This is a weird derail even by Ratz standards. :?

Agreed, and once a mod opens the thread up for splitting. Please also split off the the bollocks about an Irish connection :begging:

I'll certainly look at splitting off the most recent posts, just as soon as I can find time this morning.

The Irish stuff might be a bit more difficult to disentangle, and might be best left where it is.

Why don't you just make an " oooooh, isn't it awful " thread, especially for those who like stating the bleedin obvious, and like the holy feeling that they get, when they indulge themselves in loud sympathy for selected people that they have never met and can't possibly help.

A child dies needlessly from poverty every five seconds, on this Earth. Unfortunately, most are not american, and don't go out with such a big bang, so they have to miss out on this invaluable concern. It must be awful for them. Dying is bad enough.
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.
