Ricin sent to Republican Senator

Post by Xamonas Chegwé » Tue Apr 16, 2013 11:29 pm

Now, I'm not a great fan of right-wing politicians that happen to also be religious ministers but... well, there's a limit, isn't there? Calling them names, not voting for them, catching them in gay brothels, etc. all good - but sending them poisoned letters? That's a tad too far in my onion. :tea:

I just read that a few minutes ago myself. IIRC, this isn't the first time a US politician has been sent ricin in the post. A nasty, nasty business alright.

That's using the ol' bean.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

When I saw this on the news, they said that it was traced back to a known loony.

If that's the case, ricin seems to be worryingly easy to make.

Maybe it was just a free sample.

It is easy to make. What's a little trickier is not poisoning yourself, which is how ricin poisoners are often caught.

I can't help feeling that we're missing the Elvis connection here.

The letter was posted in Memphis, Tennessee.

Elvis covered a song called Memphis, Tennessee.

Elvis did a song called Poison Ivy League - could the target be described as Ivy League? I think so.

Elvis also did a song called Suspicious Minds which included the line We can't go on like this.

Elvis also did a song called Return to Sender about a letter which isn't wanted, just as this letter wasn't wanted.

It's as if Elvis was alive and well and wanted people to know.

Well, if he is, that's some pretty damning evidence right there! He'll be doing the jailhouse rock soon enough.

I see they have a suspect in custody. Apparently he wasn't a Muslim. Bummer, dudes.
