It's the simplest lesson, that mothers teach their kids. If YOU wouldn't like it, don't do it to others.

Now they know, perhaps they will think twice about exporting this shit to other people, in the future.

Probably not, though.
Well, IRA support from Irish Americans in Boston was dwarfed by the amount of IRA support that came from Irish people living in Ireland. So if a bomb were to go off in Ireland today, would you gloat and wag your finger at the Irish for having supported the IRA?

Or is this really just a case of you seeking every opportunity to give a big "fuck you" to the Americans?
My understanding is that it's actually the opposite-- the money from Boston Irish dwarfed the amount that was raised in-country.
This is correct in the 70s-90s but then it is was 9/11 that changed that, funding terror became a no-no and the IRA sued for peace instead.

Your timing is off by several years and interpretations of what happened in the peace process.
I thought it was U2's "War" album and the song "Sunday Bloody Sunday" that struck the biggest blow against the IRA.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

Nail bombs, made them when I was in high school. Supervised, of course. Interesting experiment.

If he's a UK-er, and is complaining about Bostonians needing a lesson on how the Irish should be treated, then he ought to put a bullet in his own head right now, FFS.

Here is one of the terrorists who learned a lesson, according to Mistermack, yesterday:

This woman, along with the 8 year old boy, has been identified as among the three dead.

Serves Boston right, eh, Mistermack?

I could post a picture of the young boy who was killed, but frankly I just don't have the heart to do it. :ddpan:

Well, to anyone who does criticize me for it, it's not as if I dug the pictures out of a confidential file. I found them on a mainstream news website.

I'm not posting them out of disrespect, other than disrespect for mistermack.

The ACTUAL Irish people on this thread have bluntly condemned this despicable and murderous crime.

Mistermack is clearly no friend of Irish people, given his clear antipathy towards Irish people, his historical ignorance, and broad sweeping statements about Irish Americans.

Either way, even if he were Irish, his bias, bigotry, and approval of this disgusting act would have NO implications for other Irish people, or for our country.

But it is interesting to note what your real attitude is to Ireland. I am disappointed.

I didn't follow them into the 1990s. :sigh:

But there was something about their voice at the time that, at least in my corner of the US made it harder to have a knee-jerk "Well the British just need to GTFO from NI." response. There was something about the line "to claim the victory Jesus won".

But back on topic, I doubt that this has much at all to do with people who can't let go of The Troubles.

And seriously, a marathon? If there is a political cause here, this crap does as much against it as the WBC does for gay rights.

It still looks like that to me. Al Kaida would probably claim responsibility pretty quickly, and target a building with a bigger bomb.
Except, you know, targeting a building with a bigger bomb was exactly what Timothy McVeigh did.

It might be both. Nidal Malik Hasan was a home grown terrorist working for Al Qaeda.
Yeh, it's just shooting in the dark really.
I thought it would need two people to plant two bombs, if the pressure-cooker setup is true, but I suppose one person could just possibly have done it.

I still think an Al Kaida plot would involve instantly claiming responsibility, and maybe a suicide bomber.
Also, they might have had access to higher grade explosive.

I'm not surprised that they kept hold of the Saudi, even if it was pretty obvious that it wasn't him.
They wouldn't let him go till it was proved impossible to be him.
