I had relatives in the Bronx, who collected for the "boys", and Boston was always the main pot of gold.

People were getting blown up with Boston money, and nobody said a word. Now they know it hurts.

Like I said. It's a shame that it's the innocent who get hurt, on all sides. I wouldn't help or support anybody in that shit, from either side. But I'm more than happy to point out that this is what that shit is REALLY like, because the message doesn't seem to have got home.

If the people in Boston who put money in the collecting tins now have a better idea of what their money paid for, then they might feel some bit of guilt, and so they bloody well should.

Sure. There's been next to no major paramilitary action in NI for 15 years, and you think this after-the-fact "lesson" somehow constitutes a silver lining? Maybe Oklahoma City wasn't enough for them, eh? A lot more people dead*, but not close enough to home.

And if the Real IRA started up again, Boston would be paying some of the bills, you can be sure of that. It's incredibly naive to think that it's all gone away for good.

My understanding is that it's actually the opposite-- the money from Boston Irish dwarfed the amount that was raised in-country.
