Sorry my bad.
I was referring to those that own guns to compensate for their inadequacies.

Unlikely it includes you.

And people who spout that psychobabble nonsense have zero knowledge of whether or not it applies to the people they throw it at. It's just playground rhetoric, and an ad hom fallacy, to boot.

To clarify, rainbow, I'm not objecting to you or people who dislike guns. I'm objecting to crappy ideas, and the whole "guns owners are compensating for small penises" crap is exactly that: a crappy idea. Same goes when people pull that line on any guy who owns a big truck or a big anything. It's just crappy discourse and is counter-productive towards finding any sort of common ground upon which to build a collaborative solution to the gun problem. Which I acknowledge exists.

You don't imagine that people that walk into schools, temples, shopping centres, movie theatres, etc and starting shooting people at random - might not have some personal inadequacies?

You used a key word: "imagine." "We don't see the world as it is. We see the world as we are." (paraphrase)

Edit: If I were to imagine anything, I would imagine that the person who made that crappy idea up in the first place had little or no penis. To say nothing of the people who so love to repeat it. But that's just to imagine.

I'd imagine that the only people who might be upset by such an observation would have small penisses and lots of guns.

...since if it didn't apply to them, why should they be bothered?

Actually, people who are denigrated by the aspersions would also be offended.

Because the people who make that accusation suggest that any man who owns guns or large objects is compensating for a small penis. I own guns and a few large things, including a large penis, so it's obviously false by nature of its inclusiveness. My evidence for the inherently inclusive nature of the accusation is your lack of evidence for the penis sizes of those to whom you attempt to apply it.

I'm bothered by shitty ideas. This is a shitty idea. It hurts the dialog more than it helps.

Drivel. Nobody said 'any man'. There could be exceptions.

...and clearly you consider yourself to be an exception, making my point.

It isn't only men who own guns.
So what fallacious, stereotypical inadequacies would a woman who owned guns be compensating for?

Failure to reproduce, land a man, manage a household, be a leader in the PTA, and various and sundry other bullshit reasons, of course. :hehe:
