Then the NK famine will be even more intense and with Western media present, America will lose the moral high ground without spending a fortune on food aid, and this whole thing might be to push up prices of food measured in dollars...pushing the dollar to the edge of the cliff.

I suspected the same thing, too, wrt the refugee firewall. However, it could also be a strategy to bum-rush the country once the firing starts in order to force the US to hold their fire or risk all-out engagement with China. Holding NK hostage, more or less.

Difficulty: Does NK have their nukes weaponized yet? Nobody believes they have mounted one on a rocket yet, and they won't be able to drop one from a plane...

Not quite nobody. I would be quite surprised if North Korea doesn't have one or two nuclear weapons mounted on rockets.

The issue is that they've never gotten those rockets to work yet. Still, even rockets that probably won't work are still a deterrent when there's an off chance they might work and take out Tokyo and Seoul.

I take that back. The shorter range Nodong missile appears to be fairly reliable, so I'd expect that's what they'd use. Tokyo would be out of range, but Hiroshima and Nagasaki would be in range - along with Seoul, of course.

The unfortunately named "no dong" missiles.... that's stereotypical of the east Asian man, isn't it?

Fuckit, go to war with China too! They're getting a bit too big for their boots. Do Pakistan at the same time, and then after that everyone left with nukes can disarm and we can all have unicorns.
