A local newspaper here likened the whole shabang to a Peking opera. Lots of screaming and rattling, but nobody ever does anything. :bored:

I, for one, would rather them do something. My camera batteries are fully charged at all times. :pop:

North Korea threatens 'all-out war, a nuclear war' as it announces it is 'on war footing' with South

North Korea has declared that it is entering a “state of war” with South Korea today, according to its official news agency.

The nation's leadership also warned any skirmish will "develop into an all-out war, a nuclear war."

The North Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) made the announcement in the early hours of this morning, after a joint statement by the North Korean government, ruling party and other organisations.

"From this time on, the North-South relations will be entering the state of war and all issues raised between the North and the South will be handled accordingly”, the KCNA announced.

"The long-standing situation of the Korean peninsula being neither at peace nor at war is finally over.”

"Now that the revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) have entered into an actual military action, the inter-Korean relations have naturally entered the state of war."

Provocations "will not be limited to a local war, but develop into an all-out war, a nuclear war," the statement said.

According to somebody, NK has staged some sort of military incident within 14 weeks after the inauguration of every SK prez. Tick-tock tick-tock...

S. Korean Marines to hold drills with U.S. forces next month

SEOUL -- South Korea's Marine Corps announced Sunday they will hold multiple combined exercises with U.S. marines next month.

The South Korean marines said they will stage four exercises together with the U.S. forces in April to hone their capabilities in carrying out landing and tactical operations and in maneuvering their mechanized units.

South Korean officials also said U.S. marines training in the country will be invited to take part in tactical discussions at front-line South Korean units to prepare for possible North Korean provocations.

With North Korea having ratcheted up confrontational rhetoric in recent weeks, the South Korean Marine Corps said they will try to maintain a high-level of battle readiness in April.

In the first week of the month, the marines will check up on their units' peacetime and wartime readiness. Through April, marine forces stationed on border islands in the Yellow Sea will conduct aerial and naval firing drills at random times and locations.

North Korea said Saturday inter-Korean relations have entered a state of war and all cross-border issues will be dealt with accordingly. A day earlier, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un put strategic rocket units on standby and threatened to strike targets in the South and in the United States. (Yonhap News)

If NK says a state of war exists, then presumably one can bomb the shit out of them and be fine under international law?

Well, they're the ones who said the war was back on. Sounds like they're giving themselves a green light to me. And if they're giving themselves a green light, well, why would they expect everyone else to just sit on their thumbs and wait for them to lob the first artillery? :dunno:
