Boris Johnson gets mugged on BBC!

Post by klr » Mon Mar 25, 2013 12:20 pm

So much for affable, buffoonish Boris.

The 1st half of the interview is tough but fair, but then Eddie Mair sticks the knife in and twists it a few times.

"'You are a nasty piece of work, aren't you?"

As mentioned in the interview, there's a documentary about Boris tonight.

Let Google be your friend. A number of newspapers and other outlets have also hosted the footage.

That's weird. It's working since I found it on youtube.
First off, it said that channel 5 had blocked it in my country.

Edit again. Just watched it all, and although I don't like Boris Johnson, I thought the interviewer was crap, and Johnson handled it well. I would have told the twat Mair to stuff it, which I suppose, is what he wanted.

Borris likes to come over as a bit of an affable oaf. He gets away with murder with that persona. However Mair is a twat. His interview style is snide and sneaky and always designed to trip people up. Nasty man.

I'll never vote Tory, but I really can't understand why our politicians must have every throwaway remark from twenty years previously subjected to this kind of tabloidy sensationalism. In that specific point, I agreed with Boris's comments as he tried several times to turn the focus onto issues.
Pray, do not mock me: I am a very foolish fond old man; And, to deal plainly, I fear I am not in my perfect mind.

Blah blah blah blah blah!

Normally, I would agree with this view right down the line, but Boris is a slippery eel who often projects a less than serious image, which has served him very well over the years. It's good to see him being put on the spot, and watch how he reacts. Not only his demeanour, but also how ready he is to admit to past mistakes.

I'm glad he's not one of "my" politicians - I can be entertained by him at a safe distance. But as someone observed earlier today: "Would you want Boris with his finger on the Trident button?" :nervous:

I'm just watching the documentary now. There were some unflattering observations from Max Hastings and ... Conrad Black. :what:

... actually, a number of people in the documentary have just now made the point about Boris with his finger on the button?

I think a lot of the electorate (if they watched the programme) will still think he's likeable. They're perfectly happy with tabloidy sensationalism, and when he decides it's going to benefit him Boris intentionally comes across as the sort who would be at home winning Celebrity Big Brother. I could see him being the next Prime Minister. Roll on Scottish independence!

The British like Boris for the same reason the Merkans liked Dubya. They can't see the sneaky, dangerous ideas beneath the bumbling, "Don't mind me I'm not even sure how I ended up in this job" persona.

I despise him for the same reason. He's not nice - he's a bubbly, comical front on the same old, self-serving, Tory lies. At least Cameron acts like a prick - when Boris fucks you, you won't even notice him creeping up behind you till it's too late!
