My experiences with hitting kids have been ... negative.

Different things work for different parents and certainly different kids. With Marina, I do the 'horrible' 1,2,3 method. Vowels like a charm and has for several years. I say '1' and she jumps! I've only gotten to 3 maybe 4 times in about 5 years. She knows that a swat on the butt comes after 3. Sadly, it doesn't work with the boys. I don't even bother counting. No one way is right.

I tickle them... if it is to go beyond that, I leave the parents to do the discipline things, which they are not gifted for given how unsufferable the kids are.

I'm sure there have been threads on this before, but I can't be arsed to chase them up... ;)

We did, rarely, with both of ours when toddlers. I think that there are better alternatives most of the time, but also that, in context, an occasional smack on the bottom isn't a major issue, and ought not be over-regulated by the state.

Strange to find myself in agreement with a mathematician. :nono:
Pray, do not mock me: I am a very foolish fond old man; And, to deal plainly, I fear I am not in my perfect mind.

Blah blah blah blah blah!

I think if I had kids I'd just pay someone else to beat them for me.

If you read mine earlier in the fred, you'll see that such paid corporal punishers used to be called teachers. :prof:

I've been on the receiving end of that business more times than I can remember. Haven't yet been on the giving end. Hope I never do.
