Re: The Rotten Heart Of Rationalia Preventing Growth
I post sporadically these days, often going a couple of days without posting at all. This forum is more 'social' than some of the other 'sceptic' type ones, which is one reason I suspect people find it hard to join in. Many people here are friends other than on the forum and I suspect that can be a bit intimidating for new arrivals.
The down side of that is that everybody pretty much knows how other members will respond to a post. It does make the place increasingly predictable.
So be it.

You've got a point, Rum. I stopped myself from posting something in this thread a little while ago because it was so predictable. Pine tree positron scrotums.

I'd like a little growth actually.
Not too much though, I like the easy-going style of this place.

What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

We instigate the sudden closing down of another atheist forum?Rum wrote:How to achieve it though..

I don't post often, but I come back here because it's known, I guess. By that, I mean that I feel a sense of familiarity with the place and connections with a lot of people here. I'm not an atheist, so that isn't what brings me here. I like the sense of intimacy here, if I wanted to be a fart in a hurricane, I'd go to a mega forum.

Yeah, the fact that most of us are atheists is pretty much incidental. But I had no idea you weren't an atheistTrinity wrote:I don't post often, but I come back here because it's known, I guess. People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

Everyone is a atheist. There is no evidence that they aren't.
