I wonder if arms manufacturers actually foment conflict to make sales. Iraq comes to mind. They do have rich lobbies and buy and sell congressmen in the States especially. Some other countries are probably wholly controlled by such groups. Russia for example.

Did I say everyone was equally informed? No. I'm saying what makes you think you are better informed that the hoi polloi, who have the same access to the same material?sandinista wrote:
Are you saying that everyone is equally informed? That some peopl don't spend more time than others researching and reading different topics. Sorry, that's a ridiculous statement. That's like saying just because a mechanic can fix a car everyone can.
I never said that either. Is this entire thing going to be you constructing a strawman based on your emotive inferences in order to avoid the point? Try answering the question, why should they care? Not why you care, why should others? Not even sure what kind of question that is...sure don't give a shit about anything, carry on.![]()
sandinista wrote: ...and companies profiting of off the mass killing of thousands is trivial. OK, yea, that sounds about right. At least now I know your opinion and why you are struggling with this thread
Ah you've answered my first question above in the affirmative. So, given that you have inferred that which was not said, misinterpreted deliberately what I stated and assumed my position from that and added a little needless cherry of mockery on top, I conclude that you have difficulty in reading properly and so are ill-informed, which is probably why the OP seemed like such an epiphany to you.
Another question avoided as well as more evidence you are not as bright as you think, it wasn't an analogy.sandinista wrote:worst analogy EVER.
What are you even on about. With that attitude...why post anything at all? Most nonsense post I've read in a while. With the exception of anything zilla writes, but I guess that goes without saying.[/quote]Audley Strange wrote:Righteous indignation is a luxury for those with free time and their needs catered for and those who have neither. You're doing more damage to yourself than me with your responses. If you can't see that, then you have my pity.
Here, since you enjoy presuming others politics and motivations based on your own prejudice, knock yourself out with your inferences and assumptions of this one.

Our struggle is not against actual corrupt individuals, but against those in power in general, against their authority, against the global order and the ideological mystification which sustains it.

The pity of it all is that the topic you have raised is well worth discussing...sandinista wrote:hmmm, no, but apparantly you do.macdoc wrote:Sandy - do you make a practice of swallowing your foot in every post?-you need a reminder...what is it? something like; better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt. It was Mikoyan that persuaded the Politburo to invade Afghanistan. Or whatever.

One just has to look at the NRA, surely. A vested interests if ever there was one. If they don't mind their own population blasting hell out of each other - and indeed encourage it - what qualms might napalm manufacturers have. Not many.

What! There's some kind of, I don't know, "military-industrial complex" profiting from warmongering?!?

Oh get stuffed - all you ever do is indulge in carping, snide crap, never engaging in any form of honest intellectual debate...sandinista wrote:Pity of it all eh? What? Pity to you? I said your topic was well worth discussing. I and others have agreed, in part, with the issues it raises, without rushing lemming like to absolute agreement with your position.
Your position, it seems, must never even be partly disagreed with...

The absence of nuance in any opinion is usually a sign of not having thought about it too much.

And you did it again. Yep you're a failure. You have no real commitment to your arguments, so you insult, you can't even read properly so you project motive and create a little scarecrow for you to shout at, have little understanding about the point of communication. so you mistake hypothetical examples as analogy. You are just another boring "never-wrong" patronising lefty poseur with delusions that you have anything of value to add to the conversation. You would have done well in Blair's Labour party. I bet if they did start a global redistribution of wealth you'd be the first to whine about oppression.sandinista wrote:Audley Strange wrote:You're doing more damage to yourself than me with your responses.check out your responses. Making a mockery of yourself. Maybe think about quiting while your behind.
The Left is filled with stupid little zealots like you, all piss and vinegar to make up for a lack of intellect. That you've lasted longer than the other two pathetic "never-wrongs" on this forum suggests to me that you can't even do that right.
Yeah, you're definitely "winning" Charlie.

Yah, and then added some snide cunty remark, maybe try leaving that out next time before you go calling someone else out.JimC wrote: I said your topic was well worth discussing.
