Animal welfare aside, children and teachers dying in schools would be a notable reason for limiting firearm ownership and use.

People do tend to brag about--or celebrate (word choice is everything)--their accomplishments.
Is this somehow "wrong" or detrimental to humanity and/or the universe?

Please, I know better than to let you con me into thinking you are this stupid.

You can't limit or eliminate violence.
Violence is not caused by weapons. Weapons are used for violence and there are many weapons. There always has been, there always will be.

So?
Is that really your attitude?
I consider it a statement of fact--some people like killing things. It is not unnatural for any human to like to hunt and kill what it hunts.

Why should that natural drive be suppressed?
Please give evidence that it is "wrong".

Yeah, tigers, elephants, manatees, swift foxes...
If any of those were injured or ill to the extent that they were suffering and not going to survive then of course.
If any of those are immediately dangerous to a person or the environment that other animals depend on, then of course.
That ... concern for animal or human welfare ... isn't what sport killing concerns itself with, though, is it.
How would you know?
Wildlife management does concern itself with the larger picture.
Who invests the most money and sweat labor in building and maintaining habitat, vegetarians and PETA-types?

Hands are weapons, like knives are and 2 x 4's.
So why choose one type?
Why not address the causes of violence and figure out how to limit it?

It doesn't matter what the person who pulls the trigger takes from it. The meat will be eaten by someone, it isn't wasted.
Yep, ivory hunter and rhino horn hunters don't waste anything.
You keep on trying to make it look like my POV is one I do not hold.
I do not support poaching.

I don't want to take 'all' your guns. If I left out that word last time, it was by mistake. I'm on my phone, so I'm not going to bother with going back and checking. So, yes, I do want automatic weapons taken from regular citizens. Any guns that aren't auto or semi auto, I'm perfectly fine with people legally buying and registering them.

Hands are weapons, like knives are and 2 x 4's.
So why choose one type?
Why not address the causes of violence and figure out how to limit it?
Hands are a pretty necessary body part, knives are used in tons of applications (surgery, cooking, manufacturing) and 2X4's are used to build shelter and furniture. I'm unaware of any positive use for a gun. The only use a gun has is killing.

Meh. Almost everyone here is anti-hunting. They prefer to buy pre-slaughtered animals that come from industrial farms and have been raised in sad conditions to the idea of anyone hunting and harvesting a wild animal which has lived its life in its natural environment, performed its functions in the maintaining the local ecosystem, and meets a swift end by a hunters hand instead of a slow death of starvation or being slowly killed and perhaps eaten while still alive by predators. Go figure.

Why the facepalm .. Do you think you're telling me something I don't know.
The strikeout message is stupid. What is your point in doing it, to tell me something I don't know?

Do you have any evidence that a squirrel has loved ones who will miss it when it dies?
No, I didn't mention love.
Then what is it that a squirrel's dependents would be feeling?
How do you know?

No. Wrong.
A positve use of a gun is shooting it.
