There is clearly something of a schism in the Holy See. Jorgio, like Joseph R. Might be a bit of a hardliner, but he's another decrepit goon who won't last too long. Like Ratzinger he's a placeholder until they get their shit sorted out.

Except they never will sort things out. They're caught between atheism/secularism on the one side, and an expanding evangelist movement in South America/Africa on the other hand. Throw into the mix all the hidebound traditions that constrain thoughts and actions, not to mention all the scandals that have yet to be properly address by them, and the future is not exactly rosy.

Normal... they expect big J to come back any time, yet he announced that 2K Years ago... their sense of time is messed up and/or, they ain't in no hurry anyway.
