I had been away long enough to forget how popular the "fire from the hip as if I know shit!" approach is on ratz.
We debated that drama as it happened, I saw lots of vids, and yes, those vids were too long and too boring.
What's your point?
My point (again) was that you vote for millions of guns, you vote for heavy handed police. The two go together. You have got what you voted for.

While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.

Now if we were looking at the evidence, police brutality actually follows the assention of the war on drugs. But hell, taking abuses and power grabs by the police state and turning it into a rant against private citizens having guns is typical of the "intellectual elite."

Ranting. I suspect you know a little bit about that.

The following is the letter sent to Rand Paul by Attorney General Eric Holder:
Dear Senator Paul:
It has come to my attention that you have now asked an additional question: "Does the President have the authority to use a weaponized drone to kill an American not engaged in combat on American soil?" The answer to that question is no.
Sincerely,
Eric Holder
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.
Cops go overboard in the States because they know that there are fucking oodles of guns in the hands of nutcases. I would not fear Seth, GS or Mosg, but for each trained gun owner there are many accidents waiting to happen. Cops try to minimise their risks, but there are some of them too who should not carry. A Canadian cop does not come at you with a handgun at ready at a traffic stop, because they know that people do not carry handguns. American cops are at war in comparison. No Canadian likes to travel by car in the States; American cops have a very bad reputation here.

How does he define combat? (and what about a link?)

Plenty of wiggle room in Holder's response. Still, it was the best Paul was going to get.
Apparently Rand Paul's speech drove senators McCain and Graham to embrace Obama's policy of unrestricted drone warfare:
Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-Ky.) filibuster appears to have exposed a divide in the Republican Party, with the party’s two top foreign policy hawks — Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) — taking to the floor Thursday to denounce Paul’s effort in stark terms.
McCain and Graham said they support the president’s right to use deadly force — including drones — against U.S. citizens on U.S. soil who are engaged in terrorism, when there aren’t other options available.
As for which side is going to win control of the Republican party, the writing is on the wall: Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader in the U.S. senate, supported Rand Paul, and the trending social media tags were #standwithrand, also supporting Paul, along with #primarygraham advocating a primary challenge to prevent Graham from running for another term.
Who would be responsible for carrying out such drone attacks? Aren't the military and the CIA prohibited from operating against US citizens in the US? Will this be farmed out to the FBI or DHS, perhaps?
