There is still a potential problem that the meat is getting into the food supply without proper regulations and so could be contaminated with tranquillisers etc. that could make it not so safe for consumption.

Some drugs approved for animals are not safe for humans and are not allowed to be given to animals destined for the grocery store. Other than that, the only problems are with folks' objections to horsemeat and with not being told what they were eating.
