But does he have the sense of priorities and the plain sense not to mix up issues and devote himself to the one goal and not make a hash of it by breaking wind through mouth on a bunch of unrelated issues?

Can you guys tell me if this screenshot is as crap resolution as it looks on my iPhone?

Image

If it is, I'll either sort it out in the next half hour, or when I get back to Glasgow tonight.

And just for what it's worth - the pertinent bits of the screenshot read:
Dawkins was concerned of the appearance that his nameksake foundation was profiting from his personal works and therefore Dawkins disclaimed any connection to Plaintiff [Upper Branch]’s merchandising business. (See FAC ¶¶ 22-24.)

Timonen proposed to Dawkins that Timonen could donate certain profits from the Plaintiff [Upper Branch]’s store operation to RDF. (FAC ¶ 24.) In response, Dawkins told Timonen that he was not “moral[ly]” obligated to do so. (FAC ¶ 24.)

Not really. Aside from his contrary curmudgeon act, and his strong feminist views that I don't fully endorse - he is very intelligent and very well qualified. Well qualified to manage an organisation devoted to promoting public understanding of science, at any rate.
And there was me thinking that you couldn't stoop any lower in my estimations. I really should have more optimism in the capabilities of human failure. I'm just too damned pessimistic.

PZ Myers has a BSc in Zoology and a PhD in Neuroscience - and has been a professor/researcher all of his career. And when he writes on science, he does so well, and eloquently.

I don't agree with some of his political views. I said as much…
Then they for sudden joy did weep,
And I for sorrow sung,
That such a king should play bo-peep,
And go the fools among.
Prithee, nuncle, keep a schoolmaster that can teach
thy fool to lie: I would fain learn to lie.

Good show. Glad to punt it out there as a taste of what's to come. :)

Have another for the road:

In this thread you have described PZ Myers as "very intelligent" and Richard Dawkins as an "idiot".

If you hold those statements to be true... then you are not fit to judge the intelligence of either of them.

Should we bookmark all of this for future reference, btw? Y'know... for when you disapprove of the sexual partner(s) of PZ Myers and/or you offer yourself to him and he turns you down? Because when that happens, you seem to instantly gain a self-proclaimed air of authority. Judge, jury and boiler of wabbits.

...read that first sentence again. And again. And again. Until it finally registers.

Because (apparently) it still hasn't:-
lordpasternack wrote:I just feel like venting for now. Richard seems to have been playing the same stupid game of: "Let's not respond to valid criticisms and requests made by Heather Dalgleish - but respond to one basic request to anyone else who asks, in private."

You think he might have fucking learnt the first time that that is not how to manage your PR, and not how to manage an organisation devoted to "reason and science". Idiot.

Just saying.

I think Dawkins is very intelligent in his field of expertise. He's an idiot when it comes to his Foundation, as the legal documents I've posted demonstrate.

I also think PZ Myers is an idiot about certain stuff, and am just as forthright with him.

If I sincerely wanted to boil bunnies or blackmail Richard, he'd have fucking known it by now. I would actually be behaving in such a way as to inflict maximum harm on him, without warning him, and irrespective of the relevance of the issues to his Foundation - or would have asked for something like, I dunno, money or something, in return for my silence on issues that he doesn't wish to be publicised.

That aside - all I will say is, EVIDENCE, MOTHERFUCKER!

What are you basing this on? the science part I mean.

I know you are clever too. I have met you and I suspect you have an unusually high level of intelligence. I just think you are expending far too much energy on this issue. Nothing much good will come of it even if you execute your case and you prove that, guess what, the guy is human and a bit of a twat in some spheres of his life.

Nobody wins. Still it is your life.

Again not interested in his political views, his eloquent writing on science, well some examples would be nice as I have not seen any.

I can provide an example of PZ Myers writing eloquently on science. Namely:

Step Away From That Ladder

I've referred to it in some of my own past posts over at RDF and RatSkep.
