Fox attacks child.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-21399709
Here's the article. Urban fox sneaks into house attacks child.
Here's a prediction, the Tories will point to some "research" that says the number of urban foxes is caused the lack of Fox Hunting, or that since we're happy to cull them there is no reason to keep a ban on fox hunting.
I'm saying they are going to use this as a pretext to try and unban fox hunting.
Not that I care. The chance of some chinless fuck being flung from his horse and trampled by others once in a while seems worth it to me.

Can we get Fox News banned somehow based on this?

Re: Fox attacks child.
We could suggest that fox hunting be expanded to those who are employees of News International and Corp. Watching a bunch of Harrow lads on horses set the hounds on O'Reilly would be fucking brilliant.

They'd be better off looking at the huge amount of waste generated by people in urban areas IMHO. Foxes are only taking advantage of what humans are doing.Audley Strange wrote:http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-21399709

Oddly, I had a discussion with someone only this morning about urban foxes. I've seen one here in Galway city loitering near a beach - at night-time of course.

I completely agree Klr, though I concern is not so much foxes and pigeons gulls and other birds in the city, even more so than rats to be honest.

So many animals are becoming urbanized. Humans will have to adjust to this.

Re: Fox attacks child.
That's as I've always understood fox behaviour to be.An RSPCA spokeswoman said it was extremely unusual for foxes to attack people and that the animal would only do so if it was afraid.
She added: "It's not typical fox behaviour at all. Foxes will come closer to a house if there are food sources. Then they can become quite bold, but they usually do back off and run away when there's people around."
Now, if it had been a dingo, the baby would have been eaten, not nipped on the hand...

Plenty of gulls where I live - pigeons as well, not to mention ravens. At times it's like a scene from The Birds, where you're having a quiet lunch by the sea, and a flock of menacing-looking avian types surround you ...Audley Strange wrote:I completely agree Klr, though I concern is not so much foxes and pigeons gulls and other birds in the city, even more so than rats to be honest.
Yup, the animals have already adjusted to humans, so we've got to live with them. We created the problem in the first place.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:So many animals are becoming urbanized. Humans will have to adjust to this.

Some animals, because of various features acquired in their evolutionary history, are "pre adapted" to survive in urban environments, others are emphatically not.laklak wrote:Moas and Dodos. Just sayin.
In Australia, birds such as the red wattle bird and the magpie, and mammals such as the ring-tailed possum have actually thrived in cities. Their population densities in Melbourne suburbia are considerably higher than they would have been in natural bushland.

Re: Fox attacks child.
That's exactly what we've always done. Deer, birds, dogs, cats. Rats and birds have always been a problem, but I'm sure someone will concoct a target specific virus to deal with them without considering long term cost. I'm not saying we should, I'm saying that is what we do in cities, always have.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:Good luck with that.Audley Strange wrote:Or more likely, cull them.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:So many animals are becoming urbanized.
