I'm with RD on minding our business wrt the dick usage of consenting adults. He's certainly not a hypocrite.
Usually, I'm in favour of treating dick insertions as irrelevant too. Trouble is, when you're taking on a well financed and politically well connected enemy, for whom dick insertions are a major, and potentially clinically pathological, fixation, it's wise not to give them the ammunition they need to distract attention from their own inconsistencies, weaknesses and outright duplicity. Either exercise some circumspection in this regard, or be up front right from the beginning, and say straight out that you don't regard their sanctimonious moralising as applicable to you, so they can fuck off if they want to try and use this as some sort of weapon. At which point you're free to turn the fire on them, and point to all the fundie pastors caught with perverted objects in their rectal passages in their bathrooms, or ensnared by FBI agents trying to solicit 13 year old girls for sex.

you judge and jury over what is and is not allowed viz-a-viz the contents of RD's underpants? If his position of attack was as piss-poor weak as the bedroom antics of a sub-group of a sub-group of a sub-group of a particular branch of one particular religion... you might have a fucking point. But it isn't. It's about religion, itself. And he can be making those comments whilst being sucked off by a crack-whore... and those comments would still stand strong.

It's
precisely because certain people have pathological issues with sex, religious fundies in particular, that a little spot of engaging the grey cells is apposite when taking on this particular enemy. It isn't just RD who needs to take this on board, it's
anyone who takes on that enemy in a sufficiently public role. In short, I and others here are asking for something resembling
competence. Competence that, thus far, the evidence points to being absent from RD's actions.

Just because RD happens to be famous, and has numerous published works under his arm, doesn't make him immune to stupidity. The evidence being presented here testifies to that on a fairly spectacular scale. Moreover, it's people like us who are going to find the shit heading toward us if the enemy starts playing dirty with vigour over this, which is one of the issues that concerns me. Frankly, if RD ends up looking like a prize tit in public, this is a trivial issue in my view, what isn't trivial is what happens to those who looked to him to articulate their concerns over religious bigotry, only to find themselves left hung out to dry once the fundies and the creotards start breaking out the knives seriously. Trouble is, he's spent too long mixing with upper class types, who operate on the basis of unspoken "gentleman's agreements" and the like, and consequently, probably thinks that the Old Boy Network will come to the rescue if it all goes shit shaped. I suspect he's never come face to face with any of the hardcore ideological stormtroopers, and it'll be a nasty shock to the system if he does, because once they get the full blown ideological war they're hoping for, it'll be precisely that - a knife fight to the death. These people will stop at nothing to destroy everything RD has worked for, so why the hell is he behaving in
precisely the manner that will make it easier for them to do that? I suppose you'll snidely hand-wave this question away as another "double clicking" moment, will you?
