Prez “Yes, in fact, up at Camp David, we do skeet shooting all the time,”

Questioner - The whole family?

Prez -- Not the girls, but oftentimes guests of mine go up there. And I have a profound respect for the traditions of hunting that trace back in this country for generations. And I think those who dismiss that out of hand make a big mistake.

This is yet another example of the press not paying attention to exactly what a politician says. Just like Clinton was technically truthful when he said "I did not have sexual relations with that woman..." (sexual relations having, arguably, a specific meaning that does not include fellatio) - so, too, does Obama as a natural and practiced politician actually navigate the issue adeptly. He says "we shoot skeet at camp david all the time..." -- we -- not "I" -- we. Then the questioner asks the next question, as always, inartfully, and asks "the whole family?" Obama skates around it easily by saying, "well, not the girls..." who are, of course, little kids. Then he says "MY GUESTS" go up there a lot and shoot skeet. He again does not say "I" shoot skeet all the time. But, "we" would technically be truthful if he did it once, and other people did it a whole bunch of times.

The media, of course, jump right over the words used, and go for what they "think he means."

This is a great example of how to train oneself to listen to what these folks say -- not just Obama, all of them.

What can we glean from all this? That Obama may have shot skeet a couple times, but that's it. Definitely doesn't do it often. But, the Camp David range is there for guests to be entertained while they stay there. Obama meets with guests on a schedule when at Camp David, so they have shit like skeet shooting and tennis and whatnot for guests at camp david to be entertained while they are there.

It's that simple. And, I'd bet a month's pay that I am dead on accurate, and that if they would just ask the fucking simple, straightforward question -- "Approximately, How many times has the President gone skeet shooting since he was elected?" The answer would either be forthcoming, or they would dodge around it. If they dodged around the answer, then you know it wasn't many, if any, skeet shooting going on for him personally.

But that still leaves the reality that "we" -- as a group - do shoot skeet all the time, because his guests go up there a lot. Lot's of skeet shooting goes on, of that I'm sure.

Who the fuck cares?
The green careening planet
spins blindly in the dark
so close to annihilation.

Listen. No one listens. Meow.

Stop it right now!
This is just the kind of dismissive attitude that makes RightWingNutjobsPlus necessary. I'll be collecting essays for a series called "Speaking Out Against Hatred Against Haters" to combat this.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

Which, had a Republican been President, would have been characterized by the mainstream media, and y'all Obama sipotters as:

An indication of systemic problem within the military and the Pentagon, evincing a top-down problem of significant proportions. Potential security breaches abounding, with little chippies being granted free access to the inner halls of Central Command, performing bogus "social liaison" functions (which really means sucking the General's dicks while on duty and being compensated for said duties by the taxpayer). The Bush Administration would be said to have "set the tone" for this sort of behavior by the "boys club" at Central Command and in the Pentagon in general.

The only reason Obama supporters hand-wave it away is because it happened while Obama was President.

As proof for that, I'll cite all the whirling dervishes who now support the Democrats and Obama, who would make mountains over photos of Rumsfeld meeting with Saddam Hussein in the 1980s, of George Bush being photographed holding hands with the King of Saudi Arabia, etc. - every little thing and every big thing was placed on Bush's doorstep, personally.

It's clear that for some reason Obama wants people to think he's a recreational shooter, when we all know he isn't. This NEVER came up before. If he really did, "all the time" shoot, and if this was a particular interest of his, the articles that are all over the place about his vacations, his endless golf outings, his bike riding, basketball, bowling, etc. would have included a reference to skeet shooting. If it really was material, substantive portion of his recreational habits, wouldn't it have been mentioned before it was conveniently helpful to achieving his agenda on the gun issue?

Like Clint Eastwood, you seem to be arguing against an invisible foe sitting in a chair....you're the only one who can see and hear him.

Not you. Obama is President, so you only care about stuff that supports your favorable view of him. That much is pretty clear.
